Mayor Justin Taylor told the NEWS last week that the city is starting an initiative to create a new monument in Memorial Park, this one honoring fallen soldiers from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

With all of the openings and improvements taking place downtown, some trouble spots certainly remain — and one of the worst is a dilapidated, boarded-up former auto shop at the corner of South Main Street and 8th Avenue.
