New Year’s Eve is one night of the year that many children get to stay up past their bedtime. What makes that late night a little more comfortable is a nice pair of warm pajamas.
Because of the generous efforts of kindergarten students a Mayfield Elementary School, some children who didn’t have pajamas have been given the gift of cozy and snuggly.
“The Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive” was conducted at the school on Dec. 7, when students of Mrs. McCarthy, Mr. Pusateri, and Mr. Walton donated brand new pajamas, and new books through Scholastic Books. The mission of the pajama drive is to provide these items to children who live in group homes, shelters, foster care and orphanages.
“So many children are without warm bedtime clothing and help with reading,” stated Genevieve Piturro, found and executive director of ‘Pajama Drive.’ “Help from the Mayfield kindergarten students will make a difference.  Giving back is what it’s all about.”
