The Lackawanna/Susquehanna Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs, along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Lackawanna County District Attorney Andrew J. Jarbola III, Allied Services and Wachovia Bank, have announced the winners of the 25th annual Lackawanna County Holiday Campaign.


The Lackawanna/Susquehanna Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs, along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Lackawanna County District Attorney Andrew J. Jarbola III, Allied Services and Wachovia Bank, have announced the winners of the 25th annual Lackawanna County Holiday Campaign.
The campaign, designed to educate students about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, features a poster contest for high school students and a calendar contest for elementary school students.
Lynn Dang, a 10th grade student at Scranton High School, won the poster contest. Her design, featuring the slogan “You’re the Role Model, Celebrate Sober,” appears on posters, buttons and billboards. The posters and buttons will be distributed to county offices and local school districts.
Other finalists for the poster contest were Jacob Jennes, Dunmore High School; Jim McNally, Scranton High School; Matthew Tallarico, Dunmore High School; and Devan Tonkin, Carbondale Area High School.
The calendar will be distributed to school districts throughout the county courtesy of the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office.
Carbondale Area winners included: Joanna Tierney, grade 7 (calendar cover design); Lauren Pizzichemi, grade 8 (honorable mention, January page); Taira Tonkin grae 8 (first place, February); Brittany Sales, grade 8 (honorable mention, February); and Shaina Scott, grade 7 (first place, March).
