Carbondale Area School District has postponed the opening of bids on the high school renovation project.
The project is being funded by $15 million in low-interest bonds obtained through the state Department of Education. However, the final cost of the project will not be known until all of the bids have been received and the contracts awarded.
Last month, the district scheduled the bid opening for Tuesday night, April 19, which would have allowed the school directors to award contracts at their regular board meeting on Wednesday night, April 20.
That plan has now been changed, though.
Business manager David Cerra told the NEWS that the district wanted to give prospective contractors more time to work on their proposals and finalize their numbers, so the public bid opening has been postponed until next month.
It will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, in the high school library.
Contracts are expected to be approved by the board next month as well.
