Mary (Betty) Davis, 92, formerly of Carbondale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011.
Mary (Betty) Davis, 92, formerly of Carbondale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, after a brief illness at Huntington Hospital, Long Island. Born October 19, 1918 in Carbondale tothe late James and Mary Horan Mangan. She was the wife of the late Eugene Davis who passed away in 1988.
She was a member of both St. Rose of Lima and St. Mary’s Parish in Waymart, The Ancient Hibernians, and Ladies Auxiliary Lodge 19. She and her husband moved to New York with their family in the 1950’s, and when retired moved back to Pennsylvania in the 1980’s, where she lived until 2007. Her favorite place was her home at Elk Lake. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, with a wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by: four daughters - Elizabeth Walsh; Marjorie Campos, and husband Jose; Wendellin Santora, and husband James; Thomasina Barnyeh, and husband Gregory; one son, Charles, and wife Claudia; one daughter-in-law, Marie; 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by: one son, James; son-in-law Richard Walsh; and one brother Ambrose Mangan.
The funeral was held from St. Joseph’s Parish, Kings Park, Long Island. Interment will be sometime in the spring at Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart. Information at Wade Funeral Home.
