The University of Scranton Women’s Entrepreneurship Center (WEC) and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are teaming up to offer “StartUP” a 6-week certificate program for aspiring women entrepreneurs. Sponsored by Pennstar Bank, the series will be held in Scranton on Tuesdays, beginning tonight, March 20, and ending April 24, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Facilitated by experienced SBDC consultants, the series is designed to give women the step-by-step guidance needed to develop successful small businesses. Participants in this interactive program will learn start-up basics, legal and insurance considerations, marketing and social media essentials, business plan development, accounting and budget skills, financing options and requirements, and goal setting. Local women business owners will also visit the sessions to share their experiences.
Regularly $165 per person, the series is offered free of charge thanks to Pennstar Bank. Space is limited and participants are accepted first-come, first-served only with completed application. To obtain an application, call 570-941-7588 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The University of Scranton Women’s Entrepreneurship Center is a partnership between the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Kania School of Management (KSOM) that utilizes experienced SBDC consultants along with carefully selected KSOM student interns. The interns are highly skilled, and enhance the work done by consultants by assisting with training, conducting research, and completing projects.
