Colin Daniel O’Rourke, 28, of Newton Lake, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at home.
Born in Scranton, son of Daniel A. O’Rourke, Newton Lake, and Gail O’Rourke, Clarks Summit and Ft. Pierce, Florida, he was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. He attended St. Clare’s/St. Paul’s Elementary Schools, and was a 2002 graduate of Bishop O’Hara High School, Dunmore, and Lackawanna College. He was employed as a Youth Developmental Aide for Youth Forestry Camp No. 2, Department of Welfare, State of Pa., in White Haven. He was an avid skier and gamer and had a passion for exotic autos. He was a member of the Clifford Twp. Vol. Fire Co., following in the footsteps of his father, who was his hero.
Colin was a loving, kind and gentle soul who cared deeply for his family and friends. He was a valued employee who helped numerous young adults to improve the quality of their lives. He was an avid reader who read “The Chronicles of Narnia” numerous times. His favorite author was Michael Crichton, among others. He was deeply loved by his friends and family, including grandparents, godparents, aunts and uncles.
Also surviving are: his twin sister, Shauna, Newton Lake; maternal grandmother, Edith Geary of Ft. Pierce, Fl.; and an uncle, Bob O’Rourke and his wife, Lynn Wright of McLean, Va.
He was preceded in death by: his paternal grandparents, Ambrose and Pauline Caviston O’Rourke; an uncle, Ambrose O’Rourke; and maternal grandfather, Russell Geary.
The funeral was held Monday, March 19, from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
