The Carbondale Business and Professional Women’s Club works with women and employers to create successful workplaces.

The Carbondale Business and Professional Women’s Club was founded over 70 years ago, and it supports the work of the national BPW Foundation at the local level.  The BPW Foundation works with women and employers to create successful workplaces which promote diversity, equity and work-life balance.

Meetings
Carbondale BPW Club holds meetings on the third Thursday of each month.  The meetings are held at various restaurants in the city, where organizational activities are discussed.  BPW president Debby Longacre said these discussions typically revolve around issues which would be of benefit to women in the working field.

Activities
Carbondale BPW Club holds annual fundraisers and donates monies to local groups and entities like the Carbondale Historical Society and Carbondale Public Library.  The organization also presents a Valedictorian Award scholarship to a local high school graduate who earns that designation through academic achievement as well as a Nursing/Medical Award scholarship to a local high school graduate who plans to pursue an education in the nursing or medical field.  The awards are presented to the two students at a dinner which is held at the end of each school year.
