Beginning at approximately 9 p.m. tonight, on Thursday, Sept. 27, motorists will begin using the new Cemetery Bridge on 81 South, just past Exit 184 (Moosic Street). Although the impact to traffic will be minimal, this traffic switch marks an important milestone in this $17 Million project. The project, which began in June of 2009 is currently on budget and on schedule, with a completion date of November of this year.
As the project heads toward final completion, motorists should be aware of continued work taking place in the area. On Monday, October 1, there will be night time rolling road blocks to install overhead signs; and from October 2-12 there will be various night time single lane closures to remove dirt from the median.
The majority of the work on Cemetery Bridge was completed at night and is another example of PennDOT's commitment to providing the traveling public with quality roads and bridges in the most efficient manner possible.
