Bring any old or obsolete electronics equipment to Lackawanna College Main Campus in Scranton on Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will take place at Lackawanna College Main Campus, 501 Vine St., Scranton, on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where they will be accepting any old or obsolete electronics equipment. The collection is open to the general public.
Most consumer electronics and home office equipment will be accepted including computers, monitors, laptops, printers, TVs, stereo equipment, cell phones, microwaves, GPS units, medical equipment and more.
In addition, the following items will be collected for a fee - Cathode-ray tubes and TVs/monitors with broken glass for $10; projection and wood console TVs for $30; and large wood speakers at $10 per pair.
Residents and businesses concerned with data security may also purchase secure data cleansing (data wiping) services at $10 per unit.
Secure data wipe service is provided according to the Department of Defense (DOD) standards. This process can take anywhere from 3 to 10 hours depending on the size of the hard drive, and will be completed at their secure warehouse facility.
Certificates of Destruction are provided and will be mailed after the data wipe process has been completed.
White goods such as kitchen ranges, dishwashers, washers and dryers that do not contain freon may be accepted during some events.
Items not accepted include loose needles, syringes, pesticides or chemicals of any kind, bulbs, ballasts, alkaline batteries, and medical waste containing bodily fluids.
