Editor’s Note: The following letter was sent on November 18 to the American Cancer Society of Lackawanna County by a proud grandmother, Susan Borders, of Crystal Lake.

Enclosed please find my check for $243 that my three grandaughters raised for Breast Cancer Awareness. We live up at Crystal Lake, outside of Carbondale, and they set up a stand at the end of our driveway on Crystal Lake Boulevard for most of the month of October.
Their names are Jessica (11), McKinley (9), and Maddie (6). They drew huge breast cancer symbols in pink chalk in the road from both directions. They basically stopped everyone coming and going on the road. either in a car, walking or jogging, it didn't matter, and they ask them to donate towards the cure.
They painted pink book marks made out of tongue depressors, pink breast cancer symbols out of baked pink play dough and pink braided braclets made out of embroidery floss. Maddie colored pink breast cancer pictures, and I made pink hair bows for them to sell.
I couldn't be prouder of them for thinking this up all on their own to raise money for such a good cause as helping to find a cure. I am a five-year Breast Cancer Survivor.
Please put their money to good use to help find a cure.
