Carbondale Area Junior/Senior High School is proud to announce that 1996 graduate, Attorney Anthony Marcavage will be the guest speaker at Commencement on June 16, 2017.

Anthony Marcavage, originally from Simpson, is the Director of Labor and Employee Relations for Bon Secours Health System, Inc., a 25,000 employee Catholic healthcare system headquartered in Marriottsville, MD.

He is responsible for union and employee relations across the organization’s workforce, including collective bargaining and litigation involving discrimination and harassment.

He resides in Silver Spring, MD with his wife Whitney, policy director for a non-profit focused on education reform, and their daughter Vivian.

Prior to joining Bon Secours, Anthony was an associate attorney at the Washington, DC office of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., a national labor and employment law firm. He is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Anthony graduated George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC in 2006. He earned his MA in European History from Syracuse University in 2002 and his BA in History and Classics from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA in 2000.

He proudly graduated from Carbondale Area Junior/Senior High School in 1996.

His commencement address is titled “Living a Useful Life” and will focus on the ways all individuals can contribute to society and in doing so lead meaningful lives.
