On Thursday, June 1st, Carbondale Area Jr./Sr. High School held their annual Academic Honors Night. Brett Gillott was the pianist as the honor students processed into the auditorium.
Kristina Gorel started the celebration off with a heartfelt rendering of the National Anthem.
Speakers and performers included Christina Carachilo, Brainna Daley, Dominic Gigliotti, Brett Gillott, Kristina Gorel, Cora Heenan, Jason Jablonowski, Chelsie Jones, Robert Morgan, Maura Nevins, Shannon, Pendergrast, Destiny Santanna, Kaitlyn Savage, Devin Smith, Patrick Smith, Abigail Tierney, Anna Totsky, Joseph Vadella, Emily Wallis, and Samantha Zenker.
Students in each class were honored for attaining the Distinguished Honor Roll along with the top three in each class receiving the gold, silver, and bronze medal awards.
Each year senior members with Academic Honors standing are asked to nominate a speaker from among the faculty.
This year’s speaker was Mr. Carm Perri, History and English teacher at CA, whose words of wisdom inspired the entire audience to give him a standing ovation at its conclusion.
Mr. Perri is also the moderator of the National Honor Society and the Mock Trial Team.
The event ended with remarks from Joseph W. Farrell, CA High School Principal who introduced our new superintendent to our parents and friends who attended this celebration of excellence.
