Announcement has been made by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic; Jaya Yoga Studio, Clarks Summit; and The Marketplace at Steamtown that the fourth annual Yoga on the Roof will take place on the roof of the Marketplace at Steamtown 300 Lackawanna Avenue in downtown Scranton Tuesday, July 4th at 9 AM.
Yoga will be followed by a light breakfast.
All those who practice or would like to practice yoga are invited to attend. Parking is free in the area adjacent to Steamtown.
One hour of yoga will be led by Hilary Steinberg, owner of Jaya Yoga, and Erin Malloy-Marcinko and Janelle Tench, both Jaya Yoga instructors.
For the fourth year, Philharmonic cellist Jeremy Lamb will provide live classical and pop music, which makes this event unique in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
This year, the event will move to the Marketplace at Steamtown. Joe Kenney, General Manager of the Marketplace, looks forward to welcoming regional yogis on July 4th:“We are extremely proud to be the host of this great event with Jaya Yoga and fully support their mission of promoting health and empowerment.
“This event not only raises money for a wonderful organization, but promotes community involvement along with local arts which is exceptionally important to us at The Marketplace at Steamtown.”
A donation of $10 per person will help underwrite the NEPA Philharmonic’s educational programs, which include Young People’s Concerts, In School performances, and a Mentoring Program that pairs Philharmonic musicians with local junior high school and high school students.
According to Nancy Sanderson, Philharmonic Executive Director, “The Philharmonic is very committed to community outreach programs that impact the lives of young people and adults.
“We strive to bring the aesthetic, emotional and healing power of music to pre-school children, elementary, middle school, high school and college students; adults and everyone in between.”
