Paul Louis Hickey, 80, of Carbondale, at home after an illness.

His wife is the former Marion Cox. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Patrick and Blanche Simonson Hickey, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, and a graduate of Mayfield High School.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

Paul was an extremely loving, kind and gentle man; he sincerely liked everyone he met.

He was a dedicated family man who sacrificed by working long and hard to provide for his family as a highly proficient machine attendant at RCA and Thompson Consumer Electronics in Dunmore.

Paul’s greatest loves were his wife and entire family, his RCA coworkers, his friends around town, and his cat, Fluff.

He was also a passionate Penn State football and New York Yankees baseball fan.

Also surviving are three sons: Donald Hickey and wife Shari, Browndale; David Hickey and wife JoAnne, Dunmore; Paul Hickey and wife Ann, Chapman Lake; 7 grandchildren: Mykenna, Samuel, Kaylan, Brianna, and Jacob Hickey and Shane and Hailey Meredith and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: James and Thomas Hickey; and three sisters: Clair Caffery; Betty Caffery; and Mae Snyder.

He believed in Christ and is now home with the Lord waiting to be reunited those he loved so dearly.

"Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand."

The funeral will be Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, 20 N. Church St., Carbondale, with services at 3pm by Pastor Donald Perry.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart.

Friends may call at the church Tuesday from 1pm until service time.
