In partnership with the PA Dairymen’s Association, the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2017 Student Leader Scholarship Awards. This year, they awarded 10 scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each.

Greg Kowalewski, Forest City, was one of the recipients.

He is a senior studying animal science at The Pennsylvania State University. He is the son of John and Judy Kowalewski of Forest City, Susquehanna County.

Greg, class of Fall 2015, is very active on campus through the Dairy Science Club as he is the Cheesebox Fundraiser Chair and Finance Chair for Ag Student Council.

He is active with the Penn State Meats Lab and is a brother of Delta Theta Sigma.

Greg is spending his summer working as the Assistant Herd Manager for Aurora Ridge Dairy, a 2000 cow operation in New York, through the Center for Dairy Excellence On-Farm Internship Program.

Greg is learning invaluable information regarding herd health care, in vitro fertilization and flushing for embryos.

Upon graduation he plans to either work in the field of dairy consulting or take a position as a manager on a large dairy farm.

After graduation, he plans on either working as a herdsman or filling a consulting role to work directly with producers.
