The Chamber Gallery, located in the historic Dime Bank, now The Greater Carbondale Chamber of Commerce Building, 27 North Main Street, Carbondale Pa, is pleased to present “Works from a Studio - Featuring the Students of Virginia Pinto Sosik,” an exhibition of fine art works recently completed under the guidance of teaching artist, Virginia Pinto Sosik from her studio in Dunmore.
The Opening Reception will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017, 6:30 to 8:30pm and is free and open to the public, refreshments will be served. Entertainment will be graciously provided by Sandra Anderson, gifted musician and performer.
The featured works display an eclectic array of genre and media completed by students of all ages, many of whom have received distinction in Northeast Pennsylvania by being awarded juried art show status, as well as recognition in the Scholastic Art’s Competition placing National Best of Show, Gold, Silver and Honorable Mention awards.
In addition, the fine artworks and commissions of the exhibitors can be seen in private and public collections locally and internationally. Some of the artisis featured will include Melanie Snyder, Ellie Massaro, Maria Foley, Johnathan Corby, and Theresa Huffman, among other talented students of Virginia Pinto Sosik.
“As a teaching artist, there is no greater challenge, no greater gift, and no greater reward then to awaken the inner artist of an individual,” stated Sosik
The Studio offers a fine art, homeschool and portfolio development program which places emphasis on the elements of art, the principles of design, and art history as a foundation for exploring visual fine arts.
It is structured to develop and nurture individual creativity, visual art concepts and learning processes while allowing the students to gain a keener understanding of themselves and the visual world through creative expression.
Virginia Pinto Sosick is a dedicated teacher. “My goal as a teaching artist is to inspire, mentor and encourage emerging artists. I am the facilitator that ignites the spark of desire to create fine art. Through various fine art media’s, visual art concepts, principles and methodologies, I afford my students the awareness needed to develop their individual creativity, style and skills allowing them to gain a keener understanding of themselves as artists and the visual world through creative expression.”
The Chamber Gallery Director, Ruthanne Jones added, “Virginia Pinto Sosik is an award-winning artist, fine art educator, presenter and art advocate holding fine art degrees from Marywood University.
"Her works and acquisitions are found in public and private collections in Asia, Australia, Europe, and the United States and have been selected for exhibition in various regional and national art exhibitions.
"We look forward to holding a solo exhibition of Virginia’s own artistry at The Chamber Gallery in our 2018 Season.”
