CARBONDALE – Come one, come all to the Fifth Annual Taste of the Town. Scheduled for Sunday November 12th, from 2:00pm-5:00pm attendees can once again look forward to one of the most special culinary events of the year.

“This event is always exceptional and fun for everyone,” said Laure DeCarlo, Director of the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce.

“But what makes this year’s event a bit more special is the change of venue to Carbondale’s newest catering site … the Anthracite Center. The former NBT bank building has undergone an awesome transformation, and the Chamber staff wanted to give more people a chance to see and experience it. So, we thought that holding this year’s tasting event there would be the perfect time to do this.”

Located at 41 North Main Street, the Anthracite Center will be the host site to “delectable fare from 13 of the area’s favorite eateries. We’ll also have specialty brews and wines, and the wonderful entertainment of singer/songwriter Chris Mullineaux. Chris is originally from Baltimore, but now lives in the Pocono area. Attendees at this year’s wine train will remember Chris for his warm, deep voice, and great songs,” said DeCarlo.

Among some of the vendors scheduled to share their most enticing dishes will be Ambers Restaurant and Bar, featuring their penne spinach alfredo and apple-stuffed pork; Barret’s Pub, offering their chicken marsala and pizza; and Plate d’Azure will serve its pork calabrese and raspberry linzer tort. Additionally, there will also be tasty Oriental fare from Foliage Chinese Restaurant, hoagies and sushi from Weiss Market, specialty cakes from PersoNELLized Cakes and Café, and much more.

“As always, every dish will be amazing and so delicious,” said DeCarlo. “This year’s event will also showcase some newer vendors, including the city’s new Manor, Something Sweet, which will open in a few weeks in Memorial Park to entice customers with its decadent chocolates, and Carbondale’s new Chip and Stone that carries on the pub fun of the former Coach.

"Another new face to this event will be Iron Heart Brewing Company, offering their special locally made brews. And Capra Collina Winery will share their delicious wines too. With each of these vendors featuring its most special fare, there’s sure to be something for everyone.”

“As always, Taste of the Town assists local organizations,” added DeCarlo. “Previously, the Carbondale Kiwanis Club, the Carbondale and Forest City historical societies, UNICO-Carbondale Chapter, and the Women’s Resource Center have benefitted from the proceeds of this event. And this year our event will take place during Veteran’s weekend. So partial proceeds will also benefit the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton.”

Tickets to Taste of the Town are $25 in advance, or $30 at the door. “The Chamber has 300 tickets available,” DeCarlo said, “and they’ll be sold on a first-come first-served basis. We encourage everyone to get their tickets early so as not to miss experiencing a very special time.”
