DAMASCUS TWP. - The Office of the Wayne County Coroner was advised at 6:22 a.m. of a fatal incident on Beach Lake Highway (Route 652) Thursday morning, involving a farm tractor.

Coroner Edward Howell arrived on scene at 7:04 a.m. Brian A. Hunt-Rutherford was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Howell three minutes later.

Hunt-Rutherford, 27, of Beach Lake, was operating the tractor. There were no other vehicles or passengers involved, Howell confirmed. The tractor crash at the intersection of Route 652 and Bavarian Hill Road.

The coroner reported that the operator died of massive head and chest trauma due to the crash. The crash was ruled accidental.

Brian A. Hunt-Rutherford was a firefighter with Beach Lake Fire Company.  The company’s Facebook page posted a tribute to him Thursday.

Hunt-Rutherford worked for Beach Lake Sprinkler Corp. He graduated from Honesdale High School.

PA State Police, Honesdale barracks, was present, but has not yet released a report.
