Some new shops may soon pop up on N. Main St.
The City of Carbondale and Donna Zaremba, owner of Art Strands Jewelry on Park Place, are seeking retail businesses to occupy the City’s planned retail incubator, which will be located in the front half of 16 N. Main St. The building is owned by Zaremba, and currently occupied by Elizabeth’s Hair Design, which will continue to operate there.
The retail venue, which will be called “The Shoppes on Main Street,” will be remodeled to accommodate up to four retail businesses, allowing the businesses to share common space while keeping overhead costs to a minimum. Designed to act as a catalyst for new start-up businesses, the retail incubator also aids in business expansion from home to storefront, internet based businesses looking for retail storefront space, and existing businesses in other areas of Northeastern Pennsylvania seeking to enter a new market.
The incubator concept is intended to help businesses learn and implement strategies for long term growth and profitability by utilizing the Small Business Development Administration and other educational resources designed to assist new business in creating successful startups and expansions. Another key component for incubator businesses is the understanding of effective marketing methods and the importance of marketing their business for long term success. As part of Carbondale’s Main Street Experience, marketing promotions for the incubator should not only help increase foot traffic, but bring more economic activity to Carbondale.
For more information on how to become part of the retail incubator, contact Christine Tocki-Mulvey Director Office of Community & Economic Development at 570-282-2882.
