Police responded to a report of a drug-related domestic incident at the residence of Erik Cain, 30, of 152 Pike St. at 8 a.m. on Oct. 8.
When they arrived, Cain was handcuffed and taken into custody due to unruly behavior. He was placed in the back of a patrol car, where he struck the prisoner cage with his head causing two lacerations to his forehead which began bleeding.
Cottage Hose Ambulance Co. was called and Cain was transported to Marian Community Hospital for treatment of the self-inflicted injuries by a two-man crew, EMT Nicholas Racht and driver Andrew Krassner.
En route to the hospital, Cain continued to be combative, fighting with the ambulance personnel, threatening them, and kicking his restraints loose.
They pulled up to the hospital, and Racht and Krassner were preparing a stretcher to use to take Cain inside when he yelled, “I’ve got a gun the cops didn’t find!”
Racht took control of Cain and a Marian security officer came outside to help secure him and assist in bringing him into the hospital.
Once inside, Cain was sedated and medical personnel treated his injuries as well as for a possible overdose.
Cain was arrested on the charge of making terroristic threats.
