Police arrested a city juvenile on possession charges, and for an active warrant, following a traffic stop.
Officer Jeffrey Arthur was on routine patrol when he saw an unidentified motorist pulling from 7th Ave. onto South Main St. in a 1992 Chevrolet pick-up truck, and he noticed that the vehicle’s rear lighting system was not working.
Arthur pulled the vehicle over in the lot of the Sunoco Gas Station at 70 North Main St. and questioned the driver, Shawn Heller, 19, of 25 Sand Street.
Heller said he had a driver’s license, but not on him.  In addition, the inspection sticker on the vehicle was expired.
Officer Jeffrey Martin arrived at the scene and informed Arthur that the city had an active warrant on Heller, so he was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant.
Police observed a small amount of marijuana in plain view inside the truck he was driving, so they searched the vehicle.  They discovered a small amount of marijuana stashed inside both an L&M cigarette pack and a Vitamin Water bottle.
Heller was arrested on charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle with an expired inspection and inoperable rear lighting.
He was taken to police headquarters, and then transported to central booking at the Lackawanna County Courthouse Processing Center on the active warrant.
