ACCIDENTS
GARBAGE TRUCK BACKS INTO VEHICLE — Gregg Farley, 130 Park St., told police that he had stopped for a posted sign on Cottage St. in a 2006 Mack truck owned by city hauler J.P. Mascaro & Sons at 11:42 a.m. on Dec. 21, and he was attempting to pull out onto Brooklyn St. when he noticed a tractor trailer approaching at a high rate of speed. He said he had to back up quickly, and when he did he hit the front portion of a 1999 Mercury which was stopped behind him by Brian Langan, Scranton. Farley stated that Langan pulled up too close to the rear of the garbage truck, placing his vehicle in Farley’s blind spot and making it impossible for him to see Farley behind him. Farley told police that he pulled up behind the garbage truck and stopped as Farley made a couple attempts to pull onto Brooklyn St., but traffic was heavy and moving too fast. As Farley tried to pull out again, Langan said he had to back up for an oncoming tractor trailer and hit the front of his vehicle. Officer David Fofi filed the report.
