Lakeland Jr. Sr. High School graduating seniors of the Class of 2011 were honored with awards at Class Night, Tuesday, June 14, and at their graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 16.
At Class Night, class treasurer Taylor Chiesa led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed with welcoming comments by class vice president Kimberly Walker.
The presentation of awards was conducted by principal Mr. Thomas Kameroski, assistant principal Mr. Charles Barlow, and junior class advisor Ms. Gretchen Allan.
Other remarks were offered by class president Robert Muncie and junior class Jana Pezanowski.
At commencement exercises, Brandon Rupert was honored as valedictorian, and Harrison Ingemarson was declared salutatorian. Diplomas were presented by Dr. Margaret Billings-Jones and Mr. John Brennan. Remarks were offered by the valeditorian and salutatorian.
Valedictorian Brandon Rupert participated in marching band and served as drum major; and was a member of the Scholastic Bowl Team, National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. He received the Spanish Award, the Harold Kennedy Scholarship for Science & Math, Scranton Area Foundation Scholarship, National Honor Society Scholarship, Mayfield American Legion Award, U.S. Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award, and the A.J. Drexel Scholarship ($60,000). He will attend Drexel University with a major in physics.
Harrison was a member of the marching band, jazz band, county band, chorus and drama club, and was chosen to participate in All-State Chorus. He earned a PSSA Certificate of Distinction in math, reading, writing and science. He received the Scott Twp. Lions Club Scholarship, and the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence. He will attend Five Towns College to major in music composition.
