Joan G. DeNunzio, 75, of Carbondale, died Tuesday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Her husband, Vincent DeNunzio, died in 2002.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Carl and Florence White Oakley, she was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Class of 1960, and the Carbondale Beauty Academy.
She attended the Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale.
Prior to retirement, she was employed as the office manager at Grumman Benton Plant.
She previously worked at Weston Components, Eynon, and at one time she was a carhop at Van’s Restaurant, Mayfield.
After graduating from beauty school, she operated her own beauty shop in Carbondale, and for a time she drove a school van for the Valley View and Carbondale Area School Districts.
Joan lived for a while in both Florida and Delaware before returning to the area.
She was active in community affairs.
She loved skating and sewing and enjoyed woodworking and ceramics.
Surviving are a son: Carl Wigfall and wife Lisa, Carbondale; a daughter: Kim Connell and husband Mike, Voorhees, NJ; a fiancé: James Tancredo, Carbondale; two granddaughters: Keanna Wigfall and Morgan Connell; a grandson: Riley Connell; three sisters: Janice Goodwin, Honedale; Donna DeGroat, South Canaan; Karen Gareis, Carbondale; four step-sons: Vincent DeNunzio, Jr.; David, Danny and Samuel DeNunzio, all of Colorado; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Hemi.
She was also preceded in death by a sister: Beverly Richards; and a step-daughter: Jean DeNunzio.
Private funeral services will be held by the Rev. John McCarty at the convenience of the family.
Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
