Francis T. Moore, a longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., and formerly of Peekskill, N.Y., passed away on Monday October 3, 2011. He was 72. He was born in Carbondale on May 24, 1939, the son of James and Mary Wengrzynek Moore.
Fran was a retired science teacher at Peekskill High School and an associate member of Cortlandt Hook and Ladder.
On July 5, 1969, he married Jean A. Fisher at The Church of the Assumption in Peekskill. Jean died on March 3, 1991.
He is survived by: two daughters, Jennifer Moore and Melinda Miller (Lenny) of Carmel, N.Y.; a brother, James of Carbondale; eight sisters — Elizabeth Loughney of Mayfield; Barbara Price (Joseph) of Clark Summit; Margaret McDonald (William) of Falls Church, Va.; Jean Smith (Joseph) of Carmel; Patricia Resine (John) of Hockesin, Delaware; Cathy Penska and Ann Ryan, both of Eynon; and Terry (Anthony) Talerico of Carbondale; a granddaughter, Samantha. and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph, and his sisters, Mary and Alice.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated by the Rev. James Price, Fran’s nephew, on Saturday, Oct. 8, at St. Mary’s Church, Wappingers Falls. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Fran’s memory may be made to the charities which he supported: The American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and Doctors Without Borders.
