James E. Conarton, Forest City and formerly of Carbondale, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2011, after a brief illness at Community Medical Center, Scranton, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the former Beverly Helms; the couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on November 9t.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Dr. Joseph and Elizabeth Kearney Conarton, he was part-owner of the former Conarton‚s Market, Carbondale. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Triangle Pacific and Procter & Gamble.
Jim loved the outdoors and his home in the country. He enjoyed his trips to Alaska, camping and photographing the grizzlies with his son and granddaughter.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at CMC for the special care given to Jim and his family.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Laurie and husband Mark Miller, Clifford Twp.; a son, James A. “Jimbo” and wife Stacey DelVecchio, Carbondale; four grandchildren: Melissa and Jay Conarton, Mark Lucas and Caroline Miller; a sister, Ann Riesling, Carbondale; two sister-in-laws — Angie Conarton, Great Bend; and Donna Lloyd, Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.
Hs also preceded in death by: a sister, Marion Keating; and two brothers, Joseph and John Conarton.
The funeral was Saturday in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with services by Margo Tomlinson, Pastor, First Presbyterian Church. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.
