Rose Mary Mauro Seymour, 87, Hospital St., Carbondale, passed away at home Thursday, Oct. 12, 2011. She would have celebrated her 88th birthday on October 25. She is survived by her husband, Chancey Seymour; they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary July 26, 2011.
Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Rocco Mauro. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, and was formally a member of the Golden Guild. Before her retirement, she was employed as a garment worker and was a member of the ILGWU.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially close to her grandchildren; she was their “Nanny.” She was infamous for cooking and baking her Italian specialties.
She is survived by: three sons — Thomas Seymour, Carbondale; Samuel Seymour and wife Debbie, Scott Twp.; Robert Seymour, Clifford; two daughters — Diane Connor and husband Michael Pittsburg; and Ann Marie Barbaro and husband Tony, all of Carbondale; 12 grandchildren — Stephanie, Roseann, Kimmy, Mickey, Michael, Chrissy, Peter, Tommy, Sammy, Matt, Erika, and Jillian; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers — Thomas Mauro and wife Carol, Mayfield; and Raymond Mauro and wife Martha, Carbondale; a sister-in-law, Molly Cornell, Binghamton, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Mauro, and a sister, Jean Pasterchik.
The funeral was Monday, Oct. 17, from the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Homes, 2 Hospital St., Carbondale, with mass in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment, Jermyn Cemetery, Jermyn.
