Francis Joseph “Frankie” Kacer, Jr., 65, of Waymart, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Marian Community Hospital.  His wife is the former Liddie Horst Bortree.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Frank and Mae McDonnell Kacer, he was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Waymart, and its Holy Name Society.  He was a 1964 graduate of St. Rose High School.  He was a grocer, having run Kacer’s Market, Waymart, after starting out in business with his mother and father.  He was known as the “Kielbossa King” for his famous home made smoked kielbossa that he shipped across the country.  He loved his customers and greatly enjoyed talking with all of them. 
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Meat Processors, the Lions Club of Waymart, and the Knights of Columbus Carbondale Council 329 where he as a 4th degree knight and a former grand knight.  He was also a member of the Waymart Bicentennial Committee and a former member of the Waymart Ambulance Corps.
He took pride in his family and his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Also surviving are: three daughters — Karen Watson and her daughter Emma, Lansdale; Christine Notchick and her daughters Rachael and Lauren, Honesdale; Susan Davis and her sons Kyle and Matthew, Honesdale; three step-children — Joann Ostrander, Honesdale; Ronald Bortree, Beach Lake; Edward Bortree, Jermyn; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Andzulis and husband John, Pittstown, NJ; a brother, Michael Kacer, Waymart; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 14, from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Waymart, celebrated by Rev. Joseph S. Sitko.  Interment, Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson.
