Eleanor Alexander, R.N., of Carbondale, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the Forest City Nursing Center.  She was the widow of George Alexander, who died July 4, 1996.
Born in Mayfield, daughter of the late James C. and Florence Pritchard Davis, she was a member of the Jermyn Primitive Methodist Church.  She was a graduate of Mayfield High School and the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing.  She was also a member of the Army Nurse Corps in Chicago during World War II. 
She was formerly employed by Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, as an operating room nurse at the former Carbondale General Hospital, and also at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Carbondale.  She retired as an O.B. nurse from the Marian Community Hospital. She was also a volunteer at the Marian Community Hospital.  She enjoyed traveling and going on vacations with her husband and friends.
Surviving are: a son, William Alexander, Pleasant Mount; a grandson, Shawn Alexander, Pleasant Mount; a brother, James Davis and wife Dolly, Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.  She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Davis.
The funeral was Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale with services by the Rev. Allan Rupert, pastor of the Jermyn Primitive Methodist Church.  Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.
