A tree-planting took place recently along Wurts Brothers Lane, where a new walkway is being created on the dirt path between the Anthracite Marker on 7th Ave. and the parking lot area of Burger King/Peebles in the shopping plaza on Brooklyn Street.

The Pa. Pro-Life Federation held a Town Hall Luncheon at the Ben-Mar Restaurant on Tuesday, April 9, to discuss some of the leading pro-life issues here in Pennsylvania and at the national level.

Earlier this year, Carbondale Area Life Skills teacher Mrs. Carrie Paulin won the Ertley Teacher of the Month Award after she was nominated by one of her students, Martin Parise. As part of her reward, Mrs. Paulin received use of a brand new Kia Optima for a month. She also received a $150 Visa gift card to use for gas courtesy of Cross Valley Federal Credit Union as well as a $75 Chili's Restaurant gift card. Ertley Kia even created a news vignette about Mrs. Paulin and Martin Parise which is posted on their web site. As for Parise, he received a $100 Visa gift card from Ertley Kia plus an additional $50 gift card from Burger King.

Fell Charter Elementary School held its annual Science Fair on Tuesday, March 26, featuring projects by sixth through eighth grade students who created displays, provided written reports and gave oral presentations as well as some actual demonstrations on their respective topics.
