Carbondale posted back-to-back victories by identical scores highlighting their most recent District 32 action at the 11-12 year old division.

Pitcher Preston Casey turned in a solid effort fanning seven batters in 5.2 innings while his teammates ripped 12 hits.
After Robbie Waters, Mason Baron and Caden Brennan turned over a 6-4-3 double play to highlight the top of the first, Carbondale jumped on the scoreboard in their first at-bat.
Michael DeRichie’s single was followed by a Tyler Donato towering two-run homer. Nick Sopko’s RBI single followed a Waters’ double for a 3-0 cushion.
Casey produced triple K’s in the top of the second and fanned two in the third frame. Carbondale loaded the bases on Donato and Sopko singles, a passed ball to advance the runners and a Colin Ormes hustle to first base in a dropped third strike but did not score.
A three-run fourth frame extended the lead to 6-0. Johnathan Orta and Cesar singles preceded a Jayden Cost two-run single and DeRichie RBI double.
Olyphant netted an unearned run on two walks and an error but Carbondale responded with two runs in the home fifth.
Sopko stroked a single then moved to third in groundouts by Baron and Orta. Sopko sprinted home on a passed ball. Brennan reached on an error, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a Casey double for an 8-1 margin.
Olyphant scored a run in their last at-bat. Waters recorded a groundout effort at shortstop while Baron secured a ground out and caught a pop fly to shallow right to end the game.
Lakeland jumped to a 2-0 lead to start the game but Carbondale reeled off eight unanswered runs for the win.
Nathan Hunt singles, raced to third on an errant pick off attempt and scored on a Talin Vitzakovitch single before Riley Rovinsky ripped an RBI double for the 2-0 start.
Carbondale answered with three runs for a 3-2 lead. After a Jayden Cost and Nick Sopko reaches base on an error and walk, Tyler Donato whacked an RBI double off the fence.
Robbie Waters and Mason Baron cracked back-to-back RBI singles for a 3-2 lead.
Winning pitcher, Michael DeRichie fans two batters in the top of the second. Colin Ormes worked a walk and Cost reached base on an error. Sopko’s RBI single plated Ormes for a 4-2 lead.
Carbondale put the game away in their next at-bat highlighted by a DeRichie double and Donato single.
