Lakeland (11-7 overall) pushed a 30-19 halftime lead to 53-21 with a 23-2 third period runoff.
The Chiefs, who claimed four straight wins down the stretch in the first half of D-III action to force a special playoff game with eventual champion, Montrose for the first half title, raised the defensive pressure in the third period at Forest City.
“We’ve been working on our defensive play and defensive intensity,” said head coach, Dave Rosenkrans. “Our kids finished the first half of the division strong and realize our defensive play is the key to us competing for the second half title.”
Creating turnovers against Forest City set the stage for the rest of the half where the Chiefs have key games against Montrose, Blue Ridge, Elk Lake and Lackawanna Trail all at home.

Brian Nebzydoski (9) led Forest City.
