The value of Catholic Education has long been recognized but economic conditions make it difficult for many families to afford. To help meet this need the Carbondale Trinity Club is offering two Scholarships, each valued at $500, to the General 8th Grade Student Body of Upper Valley school districts.

Applicants will be judged by criteria, which include scholarship, citizenship, and leadership.

Applicants must be residents of the upper valley (Archbald to Forest City and Dalton to Waymart) and an eighth grade student and must be continuing their high school education in a Catholic School (Holy Cross, Scranton Prep, etc.).

Applications must include an essay of approximately 100 words explaining what Community means to them. Essays should include a definition of what constitutes a community and what is important in a community.

A list of any involvement in community activities, (volunteer work, etc.) should be a part of the application, as well as notation of all participation in extra-curricular activities. Two letters of recommendation must also be provided.

Applicants can gain additional consideration by highlighting any achievements in leadership, athletics, community service, etc.
