HONESDALE – Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) announced that recently the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) awarded grants to local EMS and volunteer fire companies, which will help with needed building repairs, additional firefighter and ambulance volunteer training, or equipment repairs and purchases.

“I am truly thankful for the men and woman who volunteer with our local fire and ambulance agencies in order to help protect and serve our communities,” said Fritz. “I am pleased to know that they are receiving these crucial funds to allow them to continue serving our area efficiently.”

This funding is administered by the OSFC and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and comes from an ongoing grant program that was established by the Legislature. All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, not from the General Fund tax revenue.

Below is the list of local fire companies and EMS agencies and the amount they received:

Susquehanna County

Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company Fire Company: $13,326.97.

Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company Fire Company EMS: $7,155.22.
