Johnson College and The Andrew Mazza Foundation are proud to announce that the 2nd annual Andrew Mazza Diesel Jam will be held at Johnson College, 3427 North Main Ave., Scranton, on Sunday, June 9. Diesel Jam is a celebration of the diesel truck community and features a truck show, a mobile dyno, awards, vendors, food, and live entertainment provided by the Carro Casper Band.

Awards presented to participating truck owners will include Best in Show, Big Rig, Pick Up, Antique, Tow, and People’s Choice. Diesel Jam is an all-day, family friendly event. All trucks are invited to participate, with registration starting at 8:00 a.m. on the day of the event.

According to Dawn Zeigler, one of the event organizers, A big draw is the all-day dyno. Ms. Zeigler explained, “A dynamometer, or dyno for short, is a device for measuring force, torque, or power. For example, the power produced by an engine or motor can be calculated by simultaneously measuring torque and rotational speed, or RPMs. So with that being explained, we have a mobile dyno come to the show and guys and girls put their truck on it to see whose truck is the most ‘bad ass’ and, of course, bragging rights are included. Believe it or not, it’s a big draw, even just to watch.”

This event will help support the Diesel Truck Technology program at Johnson College and The Andrew Mazza Foundation. Diesel Truck Technology is a two-year program which currently enrolls around 35 students. The program is designed to prepare students as entry-level technicians with the latest information on diagnosis, repair procedures, preventive maintenance, and necessary safety applications in diesel technology.

The Andrew Mazza Foundation was established in 2016 to honor the late Andrew Mazza, who lost his life in a tragic automobile accident. The foundation supports and enriches the community through Andrew’s passions and hobbies. Proceeds raised from Diesel Jam will be used to enhance and expand the Diesel TruckTechnology program at Johnson, to provide students in the program with scholarships, and to serve the community of Greenfield Township that Andrew called home.

Representatives of the foundation ask the public to kindly support the Andrew Mazza Diesel Jam with a sponsorship, a monetary donation, or truck participation, as well as by attending the event. Contributions to this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is tax deductible and will be very much appreciated. Early truck registration can be completed at a discounted fee through Johnson College’s website at www.Johnson.edu/DieselJam or the foundation’s website at www.andrewmazzafoundation.com until June 1.

The Andrew Mazza Diesel Jam will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, rain or shine. The dyno starts at 9:00 a.m. and awards will be given at 3:00 p.m. Admission to the event is free. For additional information, visit the Andrew Mazza Foundation on Facebook or call Johnson College at (570) 702-8935.

In addition to the Diesel Jam, The Andrew Mazza Foundation will be hosting its first golf tournament this year. The golf tournament, along with a chicken barbecue, will take place at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Greenfield Township. A Truck-or-Treat for children will be hosted by the foundation on October 26 at Clifford Park.
