May 1st is called College Decision Day.

The date gets this moniker because all seniors must make their college choice by that date. The pressure is off for the seniors now.

The long application/acceptance journey is over and they are shown in the picture wearing the t-shirts and/or sweatshirts from the college they will attend. At Carbondale Area, we celebrate College Decision Day by allowing the seniors to wear these shirts with their uniform pants or shorts.

We wish good luck to our seniors and hope they will work hard in these institutions of higher learning to create a rewarding career for themselves that they will truly enjoy. I’m speaking with Jessica Borders who is planning to attend Coastal Carolina University to study Biology with a minor in Environmental Science.

I asked Jessica why she chose this school and her major and she said, “When I visited, I felt right at home on campus immediately. At this location, I will be 15 minutes from the beach so studying marine biology, beach clean-ups, recycling, and water testing would be easily accessible. I’m really looking forward to this next exciting chapter in my life.”
