Carbondale Area students who placed first in the regional competition were invited to the PJAS State Meeting at PSU, May 20, & 21, 2019. We had 24 students present yesterday and we are pleased to announce the following results of the 85th annual state PJAS meeting:

Olivia Manarchuck 1st place- perfect score, she also received the Oerlein Senior High Awards for PJAS excellence which was a plaque and a monetary award

Shauna Durst, who placed first at the state level. When asked to describe her project she said, “I did a study to determine if anxiety is more common in women than men. My results were too statistically close to make any determination for sure.” I also asked her if she enjoyed the experience and what was her favorite part? She responded, “Yes, I enjoyed the experience and the best part was getting to explore the Penn State Campus and see what it was really like.”
